React to the following quote from Anaïs Nin: “We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
I found this prompt on Reddit but I think this is a good prompt to discuss perspective. Also how to be more introspective to see if you pass the vibe check (ha ha.). I think personally when I was younger getting bullied def gave me a more nihilistic perspective of life. It made be believe that there is no meaning in life and that it would never get better which I think when I switched my tumblr to guns and things like that it or darker things it warped my brain as well. Thankfully, I grew out of that perspective but I turned vengeful when I was in college so I still was not happy. I think now I appreciate my perspective more. I find the trees, the sun, the sky, flowers, birds chirping, cars vrooming, butterflies fluttering around to give me a sense of calmness. I also still have that childlike soul because I do not want to ever lose that spirit in life I think it helps people connect to you more. A good example would be before I would be upset if I lost like some cash but now I am like "Whoever finds it probably needed it more than me.", this allows me a certain type of detachment when it comes to earthly things. I hope to continue to detachment from certain negative emotions, like yesterday my ex was like in my ear fussing about something but I completely disassociated because I truly did not care for his opinion. I also do not like when he yells at me because typically he just says "that's the only way I get you to listen" which is sooo not true. Also I just thought about how this was another reason why we broke up because it is just like he gets mad about everything. It is quite ridiculous.
Another tangent on accident. I try my best to be more introspective during the half year mark and the end of the year. I try to think of it like a engine check almost making sure I am okay. I always want to have these conversations with other people but I think it might be a little personal. Also I used to do 3/6/9/12 month goals but I felt that I would be disappointed if I did not hit them. I have been obsessed with just making sure I am at peace and not doing anything my future self would look back in disappointment. I always get worried that I am not following the prompt. But I have seen other quotes by Anaïs Nin and I wanted to put my thoughts down on virtual pen and paper. Sorry the blogs have not been super duper long. I am going to see if I have a quote from Anaïs Nin somewhere. Also who are they?? Lets see. She is a French essayist, author, diarist. She became known for her female erotic writings.
"Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls." – Anaïs Nin
P.S My favorite kind of quotes are those full of want. Want for something more, something bigger than ourselves, something almost otherwordly. Or in this case something that is drenched in ecstasy.
