East of Eden

 It was a great pleasure to read this book. It was a comfort to look forward to reading this book. To introduce myself to this world of good, evil, free will vs determinism, 'timshel' to understand why philosophers are always inquiring wether we are truly ever free.  The emotions I felt were indescribable and at the same time known. 

I felt bad for Cathy. I felt bad because she was scared. Scared to be in the world for truly who she is. She built an ivory tower and came down to find no world. I felt bad for Cal. I felt sad that he did not know that being good does not mean you do not have bad parts, that being human is to know and dance with both and having a decision to dance with goodness as long as possible. Humans we err, we are messy, we cry, we help, we are kind, we are nice, we can be mean, we can hurt both intentionally and unintentionally, that we ache, and yearn and long. I feel bad for Charles for his seclusion for his jealousy scarred Adam and that he did not know or maybe he did. Abra and Lee understood that world is both unknown and known, both empty and full. I feel grateful having read this book, to know its characters, to feel what they feel and to know that we have a choice. 

I yearn to write with passion of all the writers before and after me.
