Chapter Nine sisterhood: love and solidarity.

"She experiences my inner life as a reproach. She thought I was arrogant and especially hated that I valued my own thoughts. What I kept what I was thinking to myself, she thought I was plotting against her. When I told her what I thought, she said I was defiant and some species of bad: evil, nasty rotten." - bell hooks

This passage made me emotional. I know why it is often hard to deal with things head on. To understand why you speak or think the way you do. Often growing up my mother called us evil because we spoke our minds. I got told I listened to 'devil music'. I got told that often and I got told about my weight. I have risen from getting called these names and into something I hope I can be proud of one day.

Be kind to yourselves and others.
